The work of Oficina C and its role in providing scientific advice to the Congress of Deputies was presented at the closing talk of the Congress of Biochemistry Students of the Complutense University of Madrid.

Oficina C participated in the Congress of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Students of the Complutense University of Madrid, an annual reunion organised by the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. This forum allows for undergraduate, master and doctoral students to share their research in a close and collaborative environment.

The closing talk was given by Cristina Fernández García, a former student of the faculty and current member at Oficina C team. In the session entitled “From Complutense to Congress: connecting science with parliamentary work”, she shared her professional journey from her time at university years up to her work at the Congress of the Deputies.

During her speech, she presented the work carried out by Oficina C, explaining what scientific advice at a parliamentary level consists of, what challenges are involved and what skills, obtained through the scientific and research training, are key for this work.

The session closed with questions from the audience and reflections about how to orient a scientific career beyond academia.
