Pairing scheme


It is an activity to bring together the scientific community and the Congress of Deputies. 


It seeks to contribute to increasing mutual knowledge and trust and facilitating collaboration between Deputies and scientists.

Pairing scheme

2024 Edition

From 11th to 13th November 2024, ten pairs consisting of MPs and two Clerks of the Spanish Parliament, along with scientific personnel, took part in the third edition of this pairing programme. This initiative allowed research staff from different institutions and career stages to gain a closer understanding of parliamentary work and the role of

2023 Edition

During the week of 26th to 28th February 2024, nine pairs consisting of MPs and, for the first time, a clerk, along with scientific personnel, participated in the second edition of this initiative.

2022 Edition

During the week of the 14th of November 2022, 10 pairs of Congress´ Deputies and scientific staff shared working days and experiences. The professional profiles of the selected researchers covered various disciplines, stages of their research career and come from research centres in different Spanish cities.

Feedback from participants

In the three editions of the pairing scheme held so far, 29 scientists have participated and completed a brief survey about their experience.

 

 

 

 

  • After the pairing scheme, 60% of the scientific participants consider themselves to have a high or very high level of knowledge about science advice systems, whereas only 17% did so before the scheme.

  • 97 % of the scientific staff consider their experience in the pairing scheme to be satisfactory or very satisfactory. 
  • 91 % of scientific staff found the relationship with the Deputy be satisfactory or very satisfactory.
  • After the programme, 77% of the participating scientists consider that they have a high or very high level of knowledge of the functions and functioning of the Congress of Deputies, compared to 27% before the initiative.
