Dialogue C on neurodegenerative diseases
We present the Report C on advances in neurodegenerative diseases to members of the Committee on Social Rights and Consumer Affairs and the Committee on Health
On Tuesday, June 18, Oficina C organised a new Dialogue C on the report "Advances in neurodegenerative diseases," which involved both Members of Parliament and scientific experts within the framework of the Committee on Social Rights and Consumer Affairs and the Committee on Health.
This report, finalised in December last year, was revisited in light of recent parliamentary activity: the Congress has considered three bills on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). While the first two bills focus exclusively on this disease, the third addresses ALS along with other neurodegenerative diseases. Additionally, this week the full assembly will debate the overall amendment to the three proposals.
The event began with a brief presentation of the report, followed by a question-and-answer session where MPs posed their queries to the participating experts. The discussion covered the challenges faced by patients with ALS and other neurodegenerative diseases, as well as their families. Topics included the benefits of ALS units, the causes of these diseases, associated costs, and how to improve patient quality of life within a 2 to 5-year horizon.
