Oficina C attends the event organised by IDAEA and IATA dedicated to presenting their research on "Plastics in the Circular Economy."

On 3 June, one of Oficina C's scientific evidence officers participated in the Cicero Itinerary of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) on "Plastics in the Circular Economy," which was organised this time in Barcelona by the Institute of Environmental Diagnosis and Water Studies (IDAEA) and the Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology (IATA).

This event allowed Oficina C to delve into the technological and legislative challenges involved in transforming the plastic value chain into a circular model that minimises its current negative impacts.

The Cicero Itinerary served as a platform to present various research studies on topics such as their impact on human and environmental health, production, handling, and recycling, aiming to bring this sector closer to circularity.

Attendees—companies, journalists, public administrations, and researchers from the institutions—visited IDAEA’s laboratories to learn about advancements in techniques for measuring chemical toxicity, studies on micro and nanoplastics, and their effects on air quality.

Overall, the pursuit of more efficient and cost-effective processes was a common imperative highlighted by the different participants in the conference.
