Call 2023 Pairing scheme

To bring parliamentary work closer to the participating scientists - including the role of Oficina C -.

To improve Deputies´ connection to the work done in the public science and technology sector in Spain -.

To foster the creation of new channels of dialogue between Deputies and the scientific community.

The selected researchers must:

• Have a current employment link with the public or academic field of science and research in Spain;
• Hold a doctorate degree at the closing date of the call.

The following factors will be considered in the participation application:

• Knowledge and skills in science for policy (up to 20 points).
• Career path and training, particularly communication skills, engagement with stakeholders, and the impact of research beyond the academic sector (up to 10 Career path and training, particularly communication skills, engagement with stakeholders, and the impact of research beyond the academic sector (up to 10 points).

The following criteria will be used in the evaluation:

• Knowledge and skills in scientific and technological advice. 
• Experience in science communication, either voluntary or professional.
• Experience in scientific advice, either voluntary or professional.
• Impact of the candidate's research work, including its implications beyond academia.
• Communication and scientific advice abilities are desired.
• Competencies in engaging with various stakeholders are desired.

The candidates with the highest score will be chosen, and they must have a final score of 23 or more points.

Oficina C will make every effort to accommodate researchers who meet the requirements; however, if there are too many candidates, a selection will be made based on the scores obtained in the application form and the best possible pairing between the candidates' objectives and those of the members of the Congress of Deputies. It will also seek to ensure an equitable distribution of discipline, gender, stage of scientific career, and place of employment.

This evaluation and selection will be carried out by a working group composed of members of Oficina C and its Advisory Committee.

It is a face-to-face programme that expects participating scientists to be available to travel and stay in Madrid throughout the week. 

• ACCOMODATION. The programme will provide accommodation in Madrid for 3 nights.

• TRANSPORT.  Travel expenses from the place of origin to Madrid will be covered by the programme . Additional transport will not be included(taxis, buses, metros, etc.).

• FOOD ALLOWANCE. The programme will provide food during the activities. Sunday and Tuesday dinner are not included.

   

Participation in the programme is voluntary and unpaid. The information shared by both parties will be treated confidentially.

The participating researchers will be expected to:

• Engage in the pairing scheme with an active role.
• Attend all sessions scheduled for the scheme including the workshops and networking sessions.
• Provide Oficina C with information and graphic material that may be useful for the promotion and evaluation of the pairing scheme, including the potential writing of a blog entry.
